Perhaps our biggest client and greatest demonstration of our development skills; the Child Protection Unit (CPU), Greater Glasgow and Strathclyde required a comprehensive online training system for staff members to replace traditional face-to-face training. Currently developing our second of five training modules for the CPU department, the training tool range blends the latest technologies seamlessly to tackle sensitive issues.
All media disciplines are reflected in the tool including bespoke animations, integrated video streaming and an audio voice-over to accompany the textual content. From a technical perspective, the tools incorporate a range of powerful reporting and statistical functions, all operating on data held within an extensive database. Users create accounts and supply relevant details, allowing them to take breaks and resume training at a later time by logging back in to pick up from where they left off.
Additionally, the tool includes quiz sections, with audio feedback and opportunities to revisit learning sections. All details and user responses are recorded in the database for reporting purposes. Furthermore, Sharp Applications hosts the training tools and databases, supplying high-bandwidth and managing large numbers of simultaneous users.
Feedback on the tool from both users and NHS management has been extremely positive, and we are looking forward to expanding the range of training tools into further departments in the future.
